Pricing

The big question is how much should I charge?  The answer depends on several things such as.

1. How new and desired is your equipment.

2. How many extras do you have that come with it.

3. What will the market bear.

If you have a brand new Panasonic HVX 200 with several P2 cards and readers etc., along with tripod, extra batteries and lense adapters you can probably charge a premium.

However, if say you live in Los Angeles and several different camera rental places offer the same package for less then you, then it might not rent for your rate.  If you live in Moscow, Ohio and the nearest camera rental house is several states away, then you can charge a bigger premium.

Bottom line is you can charge whatever you want, but if it's not renting at your rates then you might want to rethink them.  I would suggest checking the going rate at camera houses in LA or NYC and then adjust accordingly.

Insurance

Insurance is important in case anything happens to your equipment while being rented. It's a no brainer and the cost is on the rentee not the renter.  You can certainly rent in any fashion you like, with or without insurance, but it's worth the extra effort for all involved to have the piece of mind insurance provides.

It's the difference between a yelling match over who is responsible and actually getting a replacement unit if something does go awry.

We suggest an excellent firm Dewitt Stern that has been around since 1899 and specializes in short term production insurance.

Steps to complete the transaction

After the initial contact and pricing have been agreed upon we suggest the following steps.

1. Have rentee download, sign and fax back to you a copy of a rental agreement.  Be very specific about time and dates that the equipment is being rented for and what happens if they are not returned on time or damaged.  We have provided for download a basic agreement that can be modified to fit your needs.

2. Have rentee provide valid insurance certificate that names you and your equipment as being covered.

3. Inventory equipment and check for any damage etc., when picking up and dropping off.  Have rentee sign and initial any discrepancies.

4.  Get paid!

Accepting Credit Cards

Most of the world has probably heard of Paypal by now.  If not, Please go to PAYPAL.COM and learn about it.  They charge slightly higher fees then traditional credit card companies, but they are super easy to use.

This site is about helping you turn a profit on your equipment with the least possible work.

If you need to go setup a credit card account somewhere and open a business checking and get a business license etc., then by all means please do.  If not, go to paypal and set up an account.

Fraud

A word about fraud.  You spent  a lot of time choosing your camera and equipment, you researched it and obsessed over it.  So did the guy who is gonna rent your camera, but if some one calls from Nigeria, is shooting a movie and needs you to take a money order and ship the camera to his friend in Miami, you should be suspicious.

I would not suggest accepting Money order or personal checks.  I would personally require a drivers license verification on pickup.

This is your equipment and you need to make sure your not ripped off.  Most likely you will never have to deal with fraud, but keep your antennae up for it.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

If you request a cancellation for your recurring billing subscription, no future rebills will be charged to your account. Keep in mind, a cancellation will not generate a refund - it will only stop any future rebills.
